2019 Electronic Scoring Options

Scoring Applications
The ECB has two scoring apps: Play-Cricket Scorer for mobiles and tablet and Play-Cricket Scorer Pro for laptops.

Both offer the ability to provide live scores and then upload the scorecard to Play-Cricket during or after the match.

TCS 11 has also been released and is updated to support the revised Laws of Cricket. At the start of the 2018 season though, you would need to use additional software to enable upload/download from Play-Cricket.

Duckworth-Lewis-Stern & Duckworth-Lewis
At the 2018 AGM, Surrey Championship clubs voted to use Duckworth Lewis calculations for all league games requiring a revised target score. Tier 1 matches continue to use Duckworth-Lewis-Stern via the supplied software or Play-Cricket Scorer Pro. Tier 2 and Tier 3 matches use the D/L Calculator via Play-Cricket Scorer for iOS or Android. Whilst mostly self-explanatory, we have created a guidance document with working examples in case needed/helpful.

Comms
Please do ensure relevant club members are signed up to receive communication directly from the ECB on this topic if relevant.

Benefits
As a reminder, the reasons for advocating electronic scoring are:
  • Reduce the work required to upload scorecards to play-cricket.com
  • Engage young people that are used to doing everything electronically to get involved
  • Improve the quality of records.
