All 51 Surrey Championship clubs that registered for Blue Bails Day 2016, which will take place on Saturday 13th August, were entered into the prize draw – just one of several incentives for clubs to sign up for the fundraising initiative again this year.
Speaking last year, England and Surrey legend Alec Stewart commented: “Blue Bails Day is a fantastic way for members of cricket clubs to show their support and raise money, both for the charities and also for their own clubs. I’d urge as many clubs as possible to back Blue Bails Day and help improve lives through cricket!”
Blue Bails Day is an extension of Cricket United Day, where spectators at the Oval Test match are encouraged to wear blue clothing – including official Cricket United merchandise – and raise money for Cricket United’s three charities: Lord’s Taverners, Chance to Shine and PCA Benevolent Fund.
After being the pilot league in 2015, Blue Bails Day has now become a national initiative in 2016, with teams in Kent, Leicestershire, Glamorgan, Northamptonshire and Somerset also involved.
We hope preparations for your own #BlueBailsDay events are going well and look forward to seeing those photos again this year.
