Maurice Alexander, a distinguished former Honor Oak cricketer and cricket administrator passed away on 5th March 2015 at the grand age of 97. His funeral was held Beckenham Crematorium in early April.
Maurice was a prolific run-scorer in club cricket amassing over 30,000 runs, many for Honor Oak 1st XI. He had previously played for Old Askeans. He was President of the Club Cricket Conference in 1990 and then became a Life Vice-President. Honor Oak were one of the founder clubs of the Championship with Maurice representing them at various meetings which led to the (then) radical step of forming a competitive league in Surrey. Subsequently Maurice served on the Championship Executive Committee from 1976 to 1982, holding the post of Press Liaison Officer in 1978.
